Raymond Courtney Timmons
Raymond Courtney Timmons, 93, of Holden, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
He leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories cherished by his beloved wife, Charlotte; his children and grandchildren; extended family; and the many friends whose lives he touched.
Raymond will be deeply missed, but his humor, twinkling blue eyes, giant grin, generosity, steady love, and the memories he created will remain in their hearts forever.
Raymond (Ray) was born on April 8, 1933, in Holden, Missouri, to Jesse “Jack” Clifford Timmons and Gertrude (Courtney) Timmons.
A lifelong resident of the Holden area, Ray attended Stout School and graduated from Holden High School in 1951.
In 1953, he proudly answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a Technical Sargeant in 1955.
On February 14, 1958, Ray married the love of his life, Charlotte Ann Warner, in Holden, Missouri. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four children: Randy, Melody, Pam, and Sheri.
Ray was a hard worker who often held multiple jobs to provide for his family. He worked at Stahl’s Specialty Company and Bendix Aviation Corporation, drove a school bus for the Holden School District, operated a shoe repair shop in Holden, and delivered mail for the U.S. Post Office. After 31 years with the Post Office, he retired in 1996. Throughout his life, Ray was also a farmer, raising hogs, goats, corn, beans, milo, and many watermelons.
Ray was a skilled carpenter and jack-of-all-trades. He built the home where he and Charlotte raised their family, along with the barns, sheds, fences, and ponds on the farm.
With endless projects to tackle, he took pride in fixing and maintaining whatever needed attention. His yard was meticulously cared for, and he found joy in mowing and tending the beautiful flowers he planted each year.
Some of his favorite family traditions were making homemade ice cream on hot summer days and having weenie roasts on cool evenings – creating sweet memories his family will treasure for years to come.
At certain points in his life, times were difficult, but Ray was always grateful for what he had, and he was generous with family, friends, and even total strangers and would give them what he could if they were in need.
Ray and Charlotte instilled a great knowledge, respect and love of nature and all living things in their children. Above all else, Ray was a devoted husband and father. He and Charlotte dedicated their lives to raising their children with God and creating a loving home where family came first.
He treasured time spent with those he loved and was happiest surrounded by family. His children and grandchildren will forever carry the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the countless memories they shared.
Raymond was a man of strong faith and was honored to serve as a deacon at Kingsville Baptist Church. Ray was also involved in the community, and was a member of the VA, American Legion, Farm Bureau, Pork Producers, and his family was selected to be the Missouri State Fair Farm Family in 1976.
Ray is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Charlotte, of the home; daughters Melody Bertrand (Steve) of Little Elm, Texas, Pamela Lowe of Holden, Missouri, and Sheri Stever (Scott) of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, daughter-in-law Liz Summers (Mark) of Harrisonville, Missouri; grandchildren Savannah Timmons, Erin Stever, and Ben Stever; brothers Glenn Timmons (Marilyn) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Dave Timmons (Judy) of Holden, Missouri; sisters Barbara Tokarz (Ed) of Peculiar, Missouri, and Nancy Lowery of Grain Valley, Missouri; sister-in-law Donna VanMeter (Aubrey Jr), and sister-in-law Judy (Calvin) Warner; 18 nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends who will sadly miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Gertrude Timmons; his brother, Jackie “Jack” Eugene Timmons; his son, Randall “Randy” Ray Timmons; and his grandson, Zachary Bryan Timmons.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Kingsville Baptist Church, 203 W. Adriatic St., Kingsville, Missouri, with lunch to follow.
Interment will take place at Gilbert Cemetery in Holden, Missouri, with military honors presented.
