Holden Chamber Holds Meeting

Twenty-six members and guests were in attendance last Thursday when the Holden Area Chamber Of Commerce met at Key Coffee in downtown Holden.
The guest speaker for the day way Courtney Grissum, from State Fair Community College in Sedalia.

In addition to a slide presentation, Grissum said a goal of hers was to become better connected with one of the Chamber members to help get a job shadowing program put together.

• In regular reports, Johnson County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Tracy Brantner spoke about training opportunities that are available through JoCo Economic Development.

• Next, Holden Mayor Allen Mensch told members the city is receiving bids for a sidewalk project.

He gave the Chamber kudos for a great fair and noted the quilt raffle the city held recently raised $630, which is being split between HAMA, VFW, and the Holden Senior Center.

• Holden R-III Communications Director, Bekki Currier, then spoke and said that the school is bringing back the Homecoming Parade, which will be October 2.
