Jennifer Lynn Manford

Jennifer Lynn Manford, née Pleitner, lived a life that was full—of adventure, laughter, friendship, family, and an extraordinary love for the world around her. She died on August 3, 2026, at the age of 48.
Jennifer was brilliant, endlessly curious, and a voracious reader. She had a remarkable mind and a deep appreciation for learning, conversation, and the stories that connect us to one another. But perhaps what people will remember most was the enormous generosity of her spirit. Jennifer gave freely and loved deeply. Her home was always open, her table always welcoming, and her hospitality legendary. There was always room for one more.
To know Jennifer was to have a friend for life. She had a rare ability to make people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. Her friendships were genuine and enduring, and the people fortunate enough to know her knew they could count on her.
Jennifer was a world traveler and an avid scuba diver, always eager to discover a new place, try new cuisine, and make memories along the way. She approached life with curiosity and enthusiasm, embracing its adventures with an open heart.
A devoted sports fan, Jennifer passionately followed her teams—the Houston Texans, the Kansas City Chiefs, her hometown favorites the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs, and the University of Missouri Tigers. Whether cheering from the stands, watching from home, or debating the latest game, her enthusiasm was unmistakable.
Some people simply make the world a better place by being in it. Jennifer was one of those people.
She is survived by her beloved husband, J. Justin Manford; her father, Brian Pleitner; her sisters, Renee Pleitner (Donald Skalka) and Jessica Pearsall (Keith); and many nieces and nephews, along with countless friends whose lives were made richer by knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her sister Lisa Pleitner Eslick and her mother Linda Jakubczyk Pleitner.
Jennifer leaves behind not only a lifetime of memories, but a lasting example of how to live: generously, enthusiastically, courageously, and with an open door and an open heart.
She loved life—and she lived it fully. A celebration of life will be held in the Houston area on August 29th, 2026 at 1pm at the Lake House (14259 Shadow Bay Dr. Willis, TX). Her Chicago family will honor her on September 2nd at 4pm at 1523 Heather Ct. Munster, IN.
