Betty Joan Black

Betty Joan Black, 71, of Holden, Missouri, lost her battle with cancer late Tuesday night March 10th, 2026, in the Kansas City Hospice House. Betty is now free of pain and breathing effortlessly with her Lord.
Betty was born April 11, 1954, in Florida to Billy Jean Omara and Allie Wooten.
Betty was private about her past life and lived in the joy of the present. Before moving to Holden, Betty spent some time in the North Kansas City area. She boasted stories to her old friends of her time as Cinnamon, a professional wrestler.
Betty lived and worked much of her life in Holden. Friends developed from drinking together at the bars, talking with her while she bartended, conversing with her at the liquor/bait store, or working with her at the schools.
Betty was a hard-working and devoted friend. Betty went through a huge transformation over the years, from a life focused on the bottle to a life focused on the goodness of God. If you met Betty, you know she would give her last dollar to help someone in need or to feed an animal. There was not a stray animal on the block that went hungry when Betty was around. Her passion for animals was evident in the fox family that was fed daily, the stray cats fed daily and the rescue dogs that she adopted over the years, Sunflower, Lexi and Luke.
Her selflessness is evident in her final gift. Betty donated her body to science in the hopes that people would be saved both medically through education and spiritually through her acts of kindness.
No services are scheduled. Please, say a prayer, make a toast, or sing a song to honor the relationship you had with Betty. She now sits with Jesus and watches over us!

RIP Betty. Only knew you a brief time but you were a sweetie. ❤️
You are always loved and missed, Aunt Betty.
