Jerry Duane Kephart

Jerry Duane Kephart, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on September 27, 1935, to Kenneth and Lucy Kephart. Jerry passed away on November 24, 2024.

Raised on a thriving dairy and Angus farm in Holden, Missouri, alongside his brother Kerry, Jerry learned the value of hard work early in life. His school years were filled with achievement and camaraderie.

At Holden High School, he shone as the star quarterback, served as class president, and shared the honor of Homecoming King with his high school sweetheart, Wanda.

After graduating, Jerry and Wanda married and embarked on a life filled with love and adventure. Jerry enlisted in the Army Reserves, and their journey together led them across numerous states. Along the way, they were blessed with two sons, Wesley and Scott. In 1972, they planted roots in Liberty, Missouri, where Jerry began a fulfilling career as an Electronic Technician at Kansas City International Airport for the FAA.

Following Jerry’s retirement and the passing of his parents, he and his brother Kerry embraced their farming roots, taking over the family farm. The brothers spent many joyful years working side by side, cherishing the land and their shared bond. In his later years,
Jerry enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers and snow blowers, becoming the go-to repairman in his neighborhood. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the neighbors who helped keep their driveway clear during the snowy winters, a gesture that Jerry truly appreciated.

Jerry and Wanda were active members of the Liberty United Methodist Church, where they nurtured their faith and community. Their 67 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, including their shared passion for traveling when life allowed.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Lucy Kephart, and his brother, Kerry Kephart. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Wanda L. Kephart; their two sons, Wesley (Julie) Kephart and Scott (Leanne) Kephart; three grandchildren, Jenell, Charlee Jo, and Tayler; and six great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff at Wellington Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care and support during this time.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, December 10, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Liberty, 1015 E. H Hwy, Liberty, Missouri 64068, and was officiated by St. Croix Hospice Chaplain Harlan Harper.

The family greeted friends prior to the service at the funeral home.
