Lori Harris

Lori Harris passed away comforted by her loving family on December 5, 2023.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Phil Harris. Son Greg and Donna Harris, Son David Harris and Daughter Kyndal and Duane Phelps; granddaughters Ashley and Jared Barraco, Hailey and Jake Smieleski and Hope Phelps; and grandson Tyler and Jordan Phelps.
Lori worked at Lincoln Financial until retirement when she decided she needed a part time job. She never met a stranger at Heiman’s True Value and created lasting friendships too.
She volunteered in her town and was involved with both the Holden Chamber of Commerce and Holden Mainstreet.
She had two loves after her husband and family and those were her dogs and her flower gardens. If you have ever met Jack (pretty boy Jack) and Lily or visited the gardens, you would see that all are treasured and loved. As everyone says, “In my next life I want to come back as one of Lori’s dogs”…Well, a heaven full of dogs is just perfect for her !!
Their farm came complete with horses that she rode for years and then nurtured for decades. They would admit that life does not get any better than at Windy Hill Farms.
Their house was her castle. It is full of antiques and paintings gathered over many many years and each with a special memory. She never sat down and was always cleaning or rearranging furniture or finding a new plant to place in a window. The kitchen was her domain and her covered, crystal cake plate always had delightful sweets for our pleasure.
She was an avid reader and swore that those brain games and puzzles “were keepin’ me sharp.”
She loved a good girl’s trip which she spoke about for weeks after. She knew how to be a good friend, how to write a worthy letter or thank you note, the right time to call and check up on someone and always, always said “I love you.”
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorial donations to the Holden R-III School Foundation are suggested, to assist students with educational needs.
Please keep our Dad in your prayers and thoughts as he climbs this hill of grief.
A Celebration of Life Gathering was from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden.
