JOHN ROBERT TEVIS

John Robert Tevis, 86 of Kingsville, Missouri passed peacefully away Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at his home.
John was born July 15, 1939 in Holden, Missouri, the son of Charles Tevis and Helen (Hodges) Tevis.
He graduated from Holden High School, Class of 57.
He married Beverly Ann Stoyko in May of 1957 in Miami, OK. Together they had three boys. He later married the love of his life, Joanne Kay Johnson, on August 1, 1986 at Bridal Cave at Lake of the Ozarks. John was a heavy equipment operator by trade. He was employed with Embrey Excavating and, later, Union 101.
He loved spending time with Joanne at their lake home at the Ozarks and taking his grandkids to Branson. Following retirement in 2004, the couple were snowbirds in Texas and Florida.
Survivors include his wife: Joanne; three sons: Mark A. Tevis of Warrensburg, MO; Robert “Rusty” Tevis (Robin) of Holden, MO and John “Phil” Tevis (Amy) of Kingsville, MO; stepson: Jerry “Kip” Vance (Amy) of Kingsville, MO; stepdaughter: Kacy Vance of Independence, MO; brother: Richard “Rick” Tevis of Holden, MO; and a plethora of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three siblings: Peggy Hertzog, Charles Tevis and James “Butch” Tevis, and a stepdaughter: Kelly Claibourn.
A Celebration of Life Service was held Monday, January 19 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with Pastor Jerry Bayse officiating.
There will be a private interment at the Holden Cemetery at a later date.
The family received friends one hour prior to service on Monday at Williams.
Memorial Contributions may be left to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeralchapel.
