Barbara Evelyn Barker Stout

Barbara Evelyn Barker Stout, age 85, of Holden, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Barbara was born on Sunday, June 29, 1941, in Odessa, Missouri, to the late A.D. Barker and Ruth Garner Barker. She was a proud mother of four children: three sons, Steven, Roy, and Brian, and one daughter, Cindy. Her family was an important part of her life, and the love she shared with them will forever be treasured.

Throughout her life, she held several jobs that allowed her to care for and connect with others. She spent many years working as a cook and waitress before moving into nursing and caregiving. Barbara had a natural heart for helping people and found joy in making others feel cared for and comfortable. Her kindness and caring spirit touched the lives of those around her.

When Barbara wasn’t busy caring for others, she enjoyed filling her time with the things she loved. She had a talent for sewing and took pleasure in making all kinds of children’s clothing. She also enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, creating arts and crafts, browsing thrift stores, and decorating. Music held a special place in her heart, and she had a remarkable ability to play any stringed instrument. Her many interests reflected her creativity, resourcefulness, and love for life’s simple pleasures.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents, A.D. and Ruth Barker, and her brother, Fran Barker.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her sons, Steven Stout and wife Mary of Adrian, Missouri; Roy Stout and wife Sherri of Texas; and Brian Stout and wife Penny of Gardner, Kansas; her daughter, Cindy Cruwell and husband Marty of Holden, Missouri; and her sisters, Beverly Loveall of Holden, Missouri, and Linda Ferguson of Tipton, Missouri. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who were blessed to have her in their lives.

Barbara’s love continues through her grandchildren, each of them held a special place in her heart and brought their own unique joy to her life. The memories they shared and the love she gave them will remain a treasured part of her family's story for generations to come.

The family will plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.
