Philip K. Medland

Philip K. Medland, 70, of Holden, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Philip was born on Tuesday, September 27, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, to William and Dorothy (Neptune) Medland.

He graduated from Raytown South High School in Raytown, Missouri, in 1974 and later attended trade school, where he trained to become a mechanic.

Though Philip never married, he met the love of his life, Vickey Henry, and together they shared 37 devoted years. He always like teasing Vickey that he was younger than her. He lovingly embraced his stepdaughter as his own and was proud to be a grandfather.

Philip worked for many years as a truck mechanic for KW Dart Company. Known by many as a “jack of all trades,” there was truly nothing he couldn’t fix. He rewired their entire home, restored and rebuilt an old Ford Mustang from engine to paint, and had a special knack for hickory pit cooking. His talent, kindness, and willingness to help others will be remembered by all who knew him.

Philip was preceded in death by his father, William Clayton Medland.

He is survived by his beloved life partner, Vickey Henry, of the home; his mother, Dorothy Medland, of Kansas City, Missouri; his daughter, Radana (Bill) Knoche, of Holden, Missouri; his sister, Sheri Shannon; and his grandson, Steven Lynn Jr., of Kansas City, Missouri.

No services are planned at this time. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Campbell-Cast Funeral Home, a Stewart Family Company. Online condolences may be shared with the family on their website.
