Lora L. Newby

Lora L. Newby, 85 of Warrensburg, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg surrounded by family.

Lora was born October 4, 1940 in McFall, Missouri, daughter of Clarence D. Dilley and Blondena Fay (Carter) Dilley. Following graduation from Pattonsburg High School, Lora went to work as a checker at a grocery store in Cameron. There is where Lora met the love of her life. She was united in marriage to William Cleo “Bill” Newby on March 6, 1960 in Cameron, Missouri. Lora spent time helping Bill run a meat packing plant in Princeton and Trenton, MO. Later they moved to Warrensburg, where Lora helped Bill run a construction company. Lora also spent time babysitting kids.

Lora made her family her priority. She loved to cook big family meals and bake her favorite chocolate cake recipe for all her loved ones. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her leisure time, Lora enjoyed playing cards, games and working on her puzzle books.

She is survived by her children: Pam Nelson (Ken) of Knob Noster, MO; Cindy Myers (Scott) of Warrensburg, MO; Kim Chambers (Mark) of Holden, MO; Jeff Newby (Jessica) of Warrensburg, MO; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several kids that called her grandma. Lora is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: William “Billy” Newby; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Rev. Mike Wakeman officiating.

Interment will follow at the Knob Noster Cemetery in Knob Noster, MO. Pallbearers will be Jeff Newby; Luke Chambers; Jake Myers; Joe Robb; Joe Hopper; and Scott Myers.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
