Veona Lee Fisher

Veona Lee Fisher, age of 92 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, formerly from Kingsville, Missouri passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday August 19, 2025, at St. Lukes East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Veona was born on October 6, 1932, in Norborne, Missouri, to Forrest Donald Coleman and Leone (Hedden) Coleman.
She was raised in the Basin Knob/Elm area and attended the one-room school at Basin Knob. She was a graduate of the Kingsville High School class of 1949. It is there that she met Gerald E. Fisher, who at the time was a school bus driver. She told friends that she was going to marry that man and she did.
On April 12, 1951, she and Gerald were married in Bentonville, Arkansas. They made their home in Holden and Independence, Missouri before moving to the Basin Knob area north of Kingsville. Gerald and Vee were married for 67 years before his passing on March 14. 2019.
Veona was a member of the Elm Spring Baptist Church where she served as secretary. She was a longtime member of the Basin Knob Community Club.
For several years she wrote the Elm/Basin Knob News for the Holden Progress and then the Holden Image. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and trying different recipes. She loved her flowers, trees and her vegetable garden.
Family gatherings were her favorite occasions and there was always candy in her candy dish at the house. Veona will be missed, but the memories of her bright personality will live on in the hearts of all her friends and family.
Veona is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Fisher; her parents Forrest and Leone Coleman; and brother, Donald Coleman.
Veona is survived by her son; Michael Fisher and wife Terry of Kingsville, Missouri; daughter, Debbie Mason and husband John of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; four granddaughters, Traci Mowell and husband Justin, Rebecca Gard and husband Chad, and Aimee Fisher all of Kingsville, Missouri, Sarah Black and husband Zach of Holden, Missouri; two grandson, Michael Mason and fiance’ Molly of St. Louis, Missouri and Matthew Mason of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Casen Mowell, Landen Mowell, Baylee Gard, Brynlee Gard and Jett Black.
Family and friends were welcomed to attend the graveside service held Saturday August 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Elm Spring Cemetery, 567 NW 1601st Rd, Kingsville, Missouri.
Pallbearers were: Justin Mowell, Casen Mowell, Chad Gard, Zach Black, Michael Mason, Matthew Mason, Dennis Truninger and Kevin Coleman.
