John Junior Baughman

John Junior Baughman, 91 years old of Holden, MO passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at his home.
John was born October 14, 1933 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska to John F. and Mary E. (West) Baughman.
His family moved to Holden in the early 1940 and 39’s.
John worked at several businesses in Holden from a young age, including the local movie theater, the grocery store and Western Auto.
He was a 1951 graduate of Holden High School, and spent two years in the Army before being released into the reserves.
He attended Central Missouri State University before beginning his career with the United States Postal Service. He retired as Postmaster from Kingsville, MO.
In 1964, he married Lois Ann Mortenson from Kansas City, MO. They made their home in Holden and were married 57 years at the time of her passing in 2021.
John is survived by three daughters, Kari (Don) Collett, Kris Baughman and Karen Stoner, along with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Lois, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Roy, Ralph and Charles Ray and many beloved family members.
John was a kind and generous soul who enjoyed camping, traveling, Kansas City Royals baseball, and owning his own plane, carrying his pilot’s license on him at all times. He also enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles and a good Western movie. He was a man of many talents who could fix almost anything and took great pride in maintaining his home.
He will be greatly missed.
The family will hold a private graveside service at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holden R-III Foundation or Phoenix Hospice in care of the funeral home.
