Michael Verto Hutchings

Michael Verto Hutchings, 68 of Riviera Beach, Florida, formerly of Holden, MO, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Trustbridge Hospice in West Palm Beach, FL.

Mike was born Friday, December 7, 1957 in Harrisonville, MO and was the son of the late Donald Hutchings and the late Annetta Hancock.

He attended grade school in Holden, Missouri and then moved to West Palm Beach, FL. In his thirties, he moved back to the Holden area and attended CMSU earning his Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2005.
He worked for Stahl’s in Kingsville for 21 years. In 2019, Mike moved back to Florida to help his sister after the passing of his mother.

Mike was a friendly guy and quickly made friends. He didn’t hesitate to help his community and neighbors with projects. He was very handy being a jack-of-all-trades and could fix or repair anything.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, tinkering with antique cars, engines and motorcycles. Mike was an avid motorcycle rider and a member of The Freedom of the Road Riders – Local 33. He enjoyed the peace he felt from riding his motorcycle.

Above all else Mike was an artist; his true passion in life was his art. One of his murals is on the 58 Diner in Holden where he even included his own personal motorcycle into the painting. He always built his own frames and stretched his own canvas for his paintings. He was commissioned for some of his paintings and even had them sold at different auctions. This made him proud that some of his art was sought after enough to be sold at an art auction.

Mike never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He had a huge heart and loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed. As Mike would say, “Bye for now, until we ride again!”

He is survived by one daughter, Melissa Sanchez of North Kansas City, MO; one son, Johnathon Hutchings of Warrensburg, MO; two brothers, Phillip (Ari) Hutchings of Pleasant Hill, MO, Clayton (Jasmyn) Hutchings of Holden; four sisters, Melissa Clark of Riviera Beach, FL, Sara (Joshua) Sizemore of Holden, Belinda Hutchings of Pleasant Hill, Linda “LK” Hutchings (Chris Naumann) of Kingsville; three grandchildren, Lynleigh Barker, Kinley Hutchings, and Layla Hutchings.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Donald Hutchings and Annetta Handcock.

Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to Melissa Sanchez to help with expenses, c/o Campbell-Cast Funeral Home 407 S. Pine St. Holden, MO 64040.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.castfuneralhome.com.
