Mary Ellen Bowie

Mary Ellen Bowie, of Clinton, Missouri was born May 30, 1939 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Harry Pierson Elliott and Louise Hart Elliott. She departed this life on April 12, 2025 at the age of 85.

On July 20, 1957 she was united in marriage to Dale Martin Bowie of Holden, Missouri. They were married 42 years before his passing.

After graduating from Garden City High School in 1957, she worked until she quit to stay home with Dale’s three children and their three children.

Mary Ellen enjoyed crafts, reading, crocheting afghans, sewing quilt tops and watching old movies. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holden and was a long time member of the 4-M Club.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dale, daughter Shelly, granddaughter Whitney, son Daryl, son Martin, brothers Chester, Charles, Ronnie, Larry and sisters Kay, Jeanette, and Connie. She is survived by Sally Bryant (Dale) of Clinton, Missouri, Becky Bowie (Jamie Mather) of Port Orange, Florida, Chris (Rita) of Boonville, Missouri, Vicki Baker (Roger) of Bates City, Missouri, brother Bobby Elliott (Sharon) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and sister Dianna Kline (Dick) of Orlando, Florida, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden. Interment will follow at the Holden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Bryant, Josh Blair, Jon Martin, and Ryan Bowie.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Holden.
