James “Larry” Elliott


James “Larry” Elliott, 82, passed away on Sunday, March 09, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Larry was born Thursday January 14, 1943, in Carrollton, Missouri. He was one of ten children born to the late Harry P. Elliott and Louise Hart Elliott.

Larry lived in Garden City, MO until he was 15 years old, when the family moved to Holden, Missouri. He attended and graduated from Holden High School.

Larry proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from June 1961 – June 1965. After serving in the military, he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction business for many years.

He had a passion for restoring old cars and was able to complete several projects during his retirement. His collection included a 1972 GMC truck, a 1962 Chevy Nova, a 1950 Ford and a 1931 Model A, as well as a custom T-Bucket Roadster.
He loved going fishing and hunting, farming and raising cattle. He and his brother Ron built his own bar/man cave in his shop where he did his mechanic work.

Larry loved spending time with the grandchildren and family. He will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Harry and Louise Elliott; brothers, Ronnie Elliott, Charles Elliott and Chester Elliott; sisters, Connie Wille, Jeanette Gudde and A. Kay Akins

Surviving his passing are his daughter, Denise Brewster and husband Ellis of Liberty, MO; stepson, Clint Tillotson of Kingsville, MO; brother, Bob Elliott and wife Sharon of Tennessee; sisters, F. Dianna Kline and husband Dick of Orlando, FL, and Mary Ellen Bowie of Clinton, MO; brother in-law, Lyndon Wille of Orlando FL; grandchildren, Jared Brewster of Dallas, TX and Nikki Brewster of Liberty, MO, Dakota Tillotson and wife Kelsey, Derek Tillotson, and Dalton Tillotson and wife Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Avery and Zoey Tucker and Roper, Clarke and Colton Tillotson along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family received friends Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 12:00 -1:00 p.m. at Campbell-Cast Funeral Home 407 S. Pine St. Holden, MO 64040.

The funeral service followed at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment was in the Holden Cemetery with full military honors to be presented.
