Arthur Lyons

Arthur George Lyons, beloved husband, father, and friend, of Kingsville, MO, passed away December 7, 2024 at the age of 99 years.
Arthur was born in Forest Green, MO on November 6, 1925 to Amelia and Henry Lyons. He attended high school in Glasgow, MO before entering the US Navy in 1944 where he served as a gunner’s mate on the escort aircraft carrier USES Makassar Strait in the Pacific Theatre during World War IHI.
After the war, Arthur settled in Kansas City and struck up a fateful conversation with Dorothy Mcqueen at a bus stop. They married on March 17, 1951, and together they had 3 children, Deborah, Anita, and Dale. He worked as an equipment operator for the Gas Service Company in Kansas City, MO. The family moved to Kingsville in 1969.
Arthur was an avid fisherman! His freezer was always full of fish which he enjoyed sharing with friends and family. He loved camping and the outdoors. He was a serious pitch player and loved to win…playing with family and friends from the Gas Company and the Senior Center. Arthur was also a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Harrisonville, MO.
Arthur is survived by his children Deborah (John) Courtney Stephens of Davenport, IAN, Anita (Stan) Hunter of Kingsville, MO and Dale (Joellen) Lyons of Lone Jack, MO and 2 siblings. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and his special friend Shirley Gentry. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 3 siblings, and 1 infant son.
Visitation will be held at William Funeral Home in Holden, MO on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11:30 a.m., followed by a memorial service there, then burial at Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Memorial donations may be made in Arthur’s name to the Holden Senior Center care of Williams Funeral home.
