Donna Gail (Hanes) Quillin
Donna Gail (Hanes) Quillin, 84, earned her heavenly reward on November 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 18, 1940, to Whitman and Ruth Marie (Beard) Hanes. She was born on the current Reeves Geary Farm south of Holden Missouri, Johnson County, on Highway #2.
The family later moved to Quick City, Missouri to the Lottie Duck Farm and later to the Wright Farm, south of Holden which is currently the Terry Kennedy Farm. In 1982 the family purchased the Doak School property, which was remodeled to accommodate the family for living quarters.
Donna attended elementary and high school in Holden, graduating in 1958. Subsequently she attended Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, St. Louis, Missouri, graduating September 6, 1961. She worked at Missouri Baptist in the operating room until October 1961. Upon receiving state board results, she obtained employment in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a registered nurse, holding licensure in Missouri and Kansas.
She met Bob on a blind date, September 23, 1957. They were engaged May 24, 1958, and on November 25, 1961, she married Bob C. Quillin.
They lived in Kansas City where Donna began working at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in the operating room and Bob began working at General Motors, Fairfax. She was the mother of Lisa Renee and Robert Carrington Quillin.
In 1963 she went to work for Drs. Carl Burst, Carl Lindquist, and Robert Moore, as a certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist, in their occupational health clinic. Kansas City Power & Light was a primary client. In September 1969 she joined KCPL in the Safety Department where she worked as Safety Representative and went on to become the Safety Supervisor and then Manager of Safety & Medical. She retired in July 2005 from KCPL after 42-1/2 years of service. In 1984, she was recognized by Schering Corporation as Missouri Outstanding Occupational Health Nurse.
Donna was a member of numerous organizations including:

• Greater Kansas City, Missouri Association of Occupational Health Nurses
• Kansas City Power & Light Quarter Century Club
• Kansas City Power & Light John Lynn Club
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob C. Quillin (03/28/2000); parents Whitman and Ruth Marie (Beard) Hanes; daughter Lisa Renee Quillin (May 30, 2010); and brothers David Hanes and Whitman “Bunky” Harley Hanes Jr.
Surviving her passing are her son Robert Carrington Quillin and wife Shannon; grandchildren Abigail Wray and husband TJ, Whitman Quillin and Ava Quillin; and two great-grandchildren Eliza and Grady Wray.
Donna will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
