Donald Quentin Dodson

Donald Quentin Dodson passed to peace on November 7, 2024, with many family and friends alongside, and many more in his heart.
He was born March 11 (or 12), 1964, in Warrensburg, the son of Norman and Jennifer (Billingsley) Dodson.

He was educated on the streets of Deweyville and Rock Spring, and in the Holden school system, where he graduated in 1982. He played saxophone in the HHS band and later sang in several gospel groups.

Over the years, he worked as a meatcutter, a salesman, and a corrections officer. His career was cut short when he was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, but he carried on a family tradition of meeting his situation with grace and positivity.

He served a term as an alderman for the city of Leeton.

He enjoyed gospel and other music and supporting his children in sports and other activities. He liked the Kansas City football team (Go Chiefs!).

He is survived by his children: Caleb Dodson, Milwaukee; Christian Dodson, Warrensburg; Canaan Dodson, Camp LeJeune, NC; Anna Dodson, Warrensburg; Kevin Dodson, Leeton; Rachel Dodson, Milwaukee; and Genevieve Dodson, Chilhowee; his former stepchildren: Jose, Joshua, Josiah, Jeremiah, Jordan, and Jonathan Lopez; and Mark, Alison, and Reese Evans; his siblings, David Dodson (Debbie), Sunrise Beach; Daniel Dodson (Rachel), Jefferson City; and Dana Pulliam (John), Warrensburg; and numerous friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents: J.J. “Benton” and Hazel Billingsley; Carl and Vergie Dodson; and Fay and Roy Buckley.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, Holden, MO, with a carry-in dinner (meat and drink provided) to begin at 12:30. Don’s celebration service will follow at 1:30.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Donations may be mailed to MDA, PO Box 7410354, Chicago, IL 60674-0354 or left with the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Campbell-Cast Funeral Home, and online condolences may be made to the family at www.castfuneralhome.com.
