Doris Lee Grigsby

Doris Lee Grigsby, 93 of Warrensburg, Missouri passed away Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Lee’s Summit Medical Center.

Doris was born March 16, 1930, daughter to Garford A. Warren and Lillie D. (Swansey) Warren.

She was united in marriage to Robert W. Grisgby on August 15, 1948. Her education includes graduation from Stout School, Holden High School, Bachelors of Science Degree in education from CMSU in 1954, and Masters Degree in business education in 1961.

Doris retired from teaching in 1993 after a career of 34.5 years. Her memberships include the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg since 1950, Rebekah Lodge since 1940, Order of Eastern Star in Warrensburg, Retired Teachers in Johnson County, and volunteered at the Missouri Veterans Home.

She enjoyed china painting, oil water color painting, and a variety of crafts.

Survivors include her brother: Garford Dale Warren of NJ; and many nieces; nephews; and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents: Garford and Lillie Warren; husband of 58 years: Robert W. Grigsby; brother: James Warren; sister: Patricia Ballard; and son: James William Grigsby.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg with Pastor Peter Norton officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Darrell Pinson, Robert Simmons, Bill George, Robert Maxon, Scott Strohmeyer, and Dale Jarman. Honorary Pallbearer was Jim Wakeman.

The family received friends prior to service at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Eastern Star in care of the funeral home.
