Dennis C. Schoonover

Dennis C. Schoonover, 76, of Holden, Missouri passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was born August 19, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Cordell and Marion (Burras) Schoonover.

He graduated from Ruskin High School, in Kansas City, Class of 65.

He was united in marriage to Pamela Jo Robinette on November 28, 1969 in Raytown. The couple resided in Raytown prior to moving to Holden in 1973.

Dennis was a mail carrier for several years, initially in Kansas City and later in Lee’s Summit. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Postal Management from Longview College and served as Postmaster at Urich, Deepwater and later, Odessa.

His hobbies included drag racing in years past. He also loved farming and enjoyed raising Registered Polled Herefords. He also took great joy in watching his grandchildren play basketball, run cross country and trap shooting.

Dennis was very active in his church. Dennis and his wife helped coordinate Harvesters food pantry in the Kingsville area.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Pam; two daughters: Rachelle Harder (Glen) of Holden, MO and Rebecca Skidmore (Darren) of Holden, MO; four grandchildren: Ellan Pfeifer (Jesse) of Warrensburg, MO; Makayla Skidmore (Eli Lowe) of Holden, MO; Garrett Harder (Emma McClaran) of Holden, MO and Jillian Skidmore of Holden, MO; sister: Cynthia Collins (Dwayne) of Bates City, MO and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, at Kingsville Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Allan Harvey officiating.
The family will receive friends, from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be left to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Good Shepherd Hospice.
