The Holden girls wrestling team recorded team dual wins over both Adrian and Lone Jack in a triangular meet at Lone Jack High School on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
The Lady Eagles defeated Adrian by the final score of 54-12, and closed out the night with a win over Lone Jack by the final score of 48-6.
“The duals on Tuesday have been the only time that we have had the full team together,” said Holden girls wrestling coach Ron Franklin. “That boost led to our most complete performance of the season.”
Versus Adrian, wins by pin were recorded by Lady Eagle wrestlers Faithann Brown at 105 pounds, Haley Brooks at 110 pounds, Ady Yoder at 115 pounds, Macey Greene at 120 pounds, MaReya at 130 pounds, and Charlie Gregg at 135 pounds. Lady Eagle wrestlers recording wins by forfeit included Mila Turpin, Clara Ferguson, and Bobbie Diibon as Adrian’s 12 team points came by way of wins by forfeit in open spots for Holden.
In the match against Lone Jack, Brooks, Greene, and May each captured wins by pin. Yoder, Turpin, Gregg, Ferguson, and Diibon stepped on the mat for wins by forfeit. Brown suffered a loss by pin to Lady Mule Kathryn Jack for Lone Jack’s six points scored in the match.
“We actually only lost one match the whole night,” noted coach Franklin. “Faithann started us with a win and she ended the Lone Jack dual with the only loss we had on the night. She was winning, but made the fatal mistake that led to the fall and the loss. It was a good night for the Lady Eagles.”
