Kingsville Volleyball Team Wins Senior Night Match Amid Win Streak

In the middle of a three-match win streak, the Lady Tigers volleyball team secured a win over Crest Ridge by the final score of 3-1 in Kingsville’s Senior Night match Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Lady Tiger seniors Macie Barker, Laci Collens, Ashlyn Grissell, and CheyAnna Small were recognized on the night.
In play on the court, Kingsville battled back from a first-set loss by the score of 25-22 to win the next three sets in scores of 25-23, 28-26, and 25-19.
“Laci Collens led the team with 32 hits, 10 kills, six aces, along with five kills from the back row attacks,” said Kingsville volleyball coach Jaymie Swearingen. “Huge senior night for her!
“Macie Barker was right behind her with 22 hits, five kills, 10 amazing blocks, and two aces,” continued coach Swearingen. “Macie also dominated the back row with 33 digs.
“Payton Clark had 16 hits with four kills, four aces, and a ridiculous amount of assists. CheyAnna Small had an amazing senior night with 19 hits and four kills. Kylie Stout had a great game serving and made some amazing game-saving plays.
“Ashlyn Grissel had a great senior night!,” added coach Swearingen. “This libero was all over the floor making some amazing passes. The teamwork tonight was on fire! They sure made their coach proud!”
Kingsville Defeats Lakeland
On Monday prior to the Senior Night match last week, the Lady Tigers traveled to play Lakeland and returned home with a win by the final score of 3-0.
The Lady Tigers worked to a first-set win by the score of 25-10 before the Lady Vikings challenged in the second set with Kingsville holding on for a 25-19 win. The Lady Tigers took the third set by the final score of 25-8.
“Great night for the Tigers,” said coach Swearingen. “Laci Collens led the team with 25 hits, 11 kills, and 14 digs. Macie Barker also had a great night with 12 hits, five kills, 22 digs, and three aces. CheyAnna Small and Payton Clark both had 11 hits and four kills. Jenna Murkin stepped up and had six aces.”
Lady Tigers Take Third Consecutive Win
The Kingsville volleyball team closed out last week with its third consecutive win by defeating Ballard 3-0 in a road match for Kingsville on Thursday, Oct. 5.
After last week’s win over Ballard, the Kingsville volleyball team held a record of 9-12-1.
This Thursday, Oct. 12, the Kingsville volleyball team plays at Sherwood. Start time is 5:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Kingsville volleyball team plays in the Clinton Invitational Tournament. Start time is to be determined.
