The Holden softball team defeated the visiting Lady Huskers of Higginsville for a conference win by the final score of 12-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
Holden worked form a 2-2 tie in the third inning to score 10 straight runs in the run-rule shortened contest.

“As a team, we started very flat in this game,” said Holden softball head coach Jeff Smith. “Their pitcher (Myla Petersen) did a good job keeping us off balance early in the game. Lilee Keller and Adi Wooster had a good game at the plate with two hits each and two RBIs each.”

Abby Sisk recorded the win on the mound for Holden in the start. Sisk allowed 4 hits, no earned runs, and 2 walks while recording 6 strikeouts.
“Abby didn’t have her best stuff but did a great job buckling down in big situations and getting outs,” said coach Smith.

At the plate, Sisk contributed 1 hit and 2 RBIs. Haley Brooks had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Lady Eagle players collecting 1 hit each were Adalyn Campbell, Macey Greene, and Jazzy Brown. Wooster and Brown each had a triple in the game. Keller, Brooks, and Drew Turner each had 1 stolen base. Campbell swiped 2 stolen bases on the day.
