Holden Baseball Player Garrett Smith Named To All-State Team

Holden senior baseball player Garrett Smith has been named to the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 3 All-State Team as an honorable mention utility player selection.
Smith also received a MHSBCA Honorable Mention selection last year after his junior season.
This year’s all-state nod comes for Smith after the pitcher/infielder received First Team All-MRVC-East, First Team All-District, and Academic All-MRVC-East postseason honors. In additional accolades, Smith was named as a Holden State Farm Classic Tournament All-Tournament selection in April.
On the mound this season, Smith recorded a record of 7-1. He received the Holden Baseball team award for most wins, and also led the team in steals with 15.
On the hill, Smith pitched a total of 55 innings. He allowed 38 hits, and walked 17 batters while recording 77 strikeouts. Opponents scored 17 runs against Smith with 10 of those being earned runs as the senior finished the season with an ERA of 1.27.
Smith recorded a fielding percentage of .934 this season. In 61 total chances he had 40 assists, totaled 17 putouts, was involved with one double play, and committed just four errors.
At the plate, Smith turned in a batting average of .369 this season. He totaled 31 hits with four doubles, one triple, and two home runs while drawing 12 walks.
CONGRATULATIONS Garrett !!! I know you have played heart out and it shows. You are an amazing young man and it shows. Follow your dreams young man.
