Holden Boys Wrestling Team Competes At Sedalia Tournament

The Holden boys wrestling team placed 12th among 43 teams competing at The Battle at the Katy Trail Tournament held on the State
Fair Grounds in Sedalia on Friday, Dec. 16, and Saturday, Dec. 17.
Eagle junior wrestler Daylen Greene highlighted Holden’s showing at the tournament by picking up the 100th win of his high school career on his way to a third-place finish in the 126-pound weight class. Greene’s 100th career win occurred in his second pool match of the tournament with a win by decision over Rock Port wrestler Augustus Heintz.
Greene recorded a firstround win by major decision in the championship bracket, and followed that with a win by pin.
A loss to Brookfield wrestler Peyton Parn in the championship semifinals put Greene in the third-place match where he defeated Mason Rongey from Trenton by pin.
Sophomore Graysen Thieman at 113 pounds, and junior Conner Carver at 150 pounds each placed seventh in their weight classes.
Thieman recorded a win by decision over Richmond wrestler Cayden Morris in the seventhplace match.
Carver worked to a win by technical fall in his seventh-place match with a 15-0 score over Polo wrestler Tom Ross.
Wrestling at 157 pounds, sophomore Trent Stout placed 11th. In the 11th-place match, Stout won in ultimate tie breaker over Lexington grappler Jett Christian.
Junior Andrew Johnston placed 11th in the 285-pound weight class. Johnston defeated Lone Jack heavyweight Jax Cromwell by pin in the 11th-place match. Kody Conard at 144 pounds, and Jase Kinnaman at 215 pounds both placed 12th.
Carson Moreno at 120 pounds placed 13th. Moreno defeated Richmond wrestler Declan Cockrum in the 13thplace match to end his
tournament with a win.
Kale Tryon at 132 pounds, CJ Reifsteck at 175 pounds, and Joseph Powell at 190 pounds each turned in 16th-place finishes at the two-day tournament.
Adrian Meet Scores
The Holden boys wrestling team competed in a triangular meet against Adrian, and Lone Jack at Adrian High School on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The Eagles defeated Adrian in a team dual by the final score of 51-24.
Holden wrestlers recording pins against their Adrian opponents included Daylen Greene, Kale Tryon, Kody Conard, and Trent Stout.
Graysen Thieman recorded a win by decision in an ultimate tie breaker.
Holden defeated Lone Jack by way of tiebreaker in the team score after a 42-42 tie.
For Holden, Conner Carver, Trent Stout, and Kody Conard each recorded a win by pin. The Eagles earned points in four wins by forfeit.
