The Holden high school sports teams returned to action this week after a two-week layoff of competitions and activities.

The two-week break was implemented in an attempt to curb the spread of Covid-19 after positive cases were discovered among the student population in early September.

On Tuesday this week, the Lady Eagles softball team captured a road win over Carrollton by the final score of 10-8. Look for the complete game article in next week’s edition of The Holden Image.

On Thursday this week, the Lady Eagles softball team plays a home conference game against Richmond. The varsity game versus the Lady Spartans begins at 5 p.m. The junior varsity game follows the varsity game with a scheduled start time of 6:30.

The Lady Eagles softball team continues play on Friday this week at the UCM Tournament with pool play games at 1:45 p.m. versus Blair Oaks, and at 3:30 versus Ray-Pec. The tournament continues on Saturday with bracket games. Times are to-be-determined for bracket play.

The Lady Eagles volleyball team plays a home conference match against Lexington this Thursday, September 24. A varsity match is scheduled to be played at 5 p.m. with no junior varsity slated for the evening.

This Friday, September 25, the Eagles varsity football team travels to Lexington for a 7 p.m. kickoff as the team looks for its first win on the season. That game marks the first game of a five-game stretch against conference opponents to close out the regular season for the Holden football team.

The Eagles high school cross country boys team returns to the course this Saturday, September 26 with a meet at Gans Creek in Columbia. The start time for the meet has not been posted as of press time.
