Eagle Throwers Compete At Thrower’s Tri, Isaac Hill Sets Holden School Record In Shot Put The Blackbeard thrower’s Triathlon at Belton on Wednesday, April 12 allowed Holden’s discus, shot put, and javelin throwers the opportunity to showcase their prowess. Competing against throwers from Belton and Platte County, Eagle Isaac Hill and Lady Eagle Grace Fitzgerel emerged as the top competitors on the day. “The Thrower’s tri at Belton was great because everyone got to throw, and we had the top varsity boy and girl,” said Holden track and field head coach Spencer Gudde. Hill took advantage of the day by setting two personal records and one school record. The senior recorded a first-place distance of 50’-11.5” in the shot put to set the Holden school record in the event. Hill’s best throw in the discus on the day was marked at 152’-03” to put him in first place. In the javelin, he placed 10th with a throw of 91’-08”. On her way to claiming top female honors at the meet, Fitzgerel placed first in the discus with a throw of 101’-03”, second in the shot put at 32’-00”, and seventh in the javelin with a toss of 79’-00”

Maggie Klover Sets Second School Record In Two Weeks The Holden track and field teams competed at the Boonville Invitational on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Sophomore Maggie Klover marked the day by setting her second Holden school record on the season with a first-place distance of 35’-03” in the triple jump. At the Belton Meet on March 31, Klover set a new Holden standard in the long jump with a mark of 16’-10”. Klover ran with teammates Lilly Spring, Mary-Kate Stehwien, and Peyton Corrigan on the 4x200m relay in a second place finish at Boonville. Spring placed first in the 300m hurdles. Alice Evans placed first in the 3200m run, and second in the 1600m run. The Lady Eagle 4x800m relay team of Evans, Kinadie Jones, Krista Bruns, and Camille Gudde placed second. Following are Holden’s other top-five finishes: Lady Eagles – 800m run: Valorie Slack, 2nd; Bruns, 3rd. 100m hurdles: Spring, 4th. 4x100m relay: (Spring, Stehwien, Kelsie Oswald, Corrigan), 3rd. Pole Vault: Stehwien, 3rd. Eagle Boys – Shot put: Isaac Hill, 2nd. Discus: Hill, 3rd. 3200m run: Eric Thomason, 5th. 4x100m relay: (Dax Vogler, Riker Francis, Sam Lynch, Hunter Tevis), 5th. *Spring, Slack, and Gudde are seniors on this year’s Lady Eagle track and field team.
