Tigers Take Tourney Title… The Kingsville boys basketball team placed first at the Battle of the Hardwood Tournament at Leeton High School with a win over host team Leeton in the first-place game by the final score of 44-33 Saturday, Jan. 10. The Kingsville boys basketball team emerged from the Battle of the Hardwood holding the tournament’s first-place hardware after defeating host team Leeton by the final score of 44-33 Saturday, Jan. 10.

The Tigers held a 12-5 lead at the end of the first quarter which allowed Kingsville to weather a 9-8 scoring advantage displayed by the Bulldogs in the second period, and a 14-12 edge posted by Leeton in the third quarter.

The two teams duplicated their first-quarter outputs in the final stanza with Kingsville scoring a 12-5 advantage to set the final score.

For Kingsville, John Fleeman scored a game-high 26 points, Chase Stout scored 8, Jack Ewing scored 5, Christian Stevenson scored 3, and Gavin Mullins contributed 2 points.

Tigers Jump Knights
The Kingsville boys basketball team gained a spot in the finals of the Battle of the Hardwood by defeating Lutheran (KC) in the championship semifinals by the final score of 50-36 Thursday, Jan. 8.

The Tigers jumped out to a 17-0 lead after a quarter of play.

Kingsville padded its advantage by scoring a 15-6 advantage in the second period to put the halftime score at 32-6.

Lutheran posted an 18-9 advantage in the third quarter before both teams played to a 9-9 scoring knot in the fourth quarter.

For Kingsville, John Fleeman scored 24 points, Christian Stevenson scored 10, Gavin Mullins scored 8, Chase Stout totaled 7 points, and Jack Ewing converted a free throw to finish with 1 point.

Tigers Conquer Vikings
Playing in the first round of the Battle of the Hardwood, the Kingsville boys basketball team defeated La Monte by the final score of 73-21 Tuesday, Jan. 6.

The Tigers held the Vikings off the scoreboard in the first quarter as Kingsville built to a 22-0 lead after a quarter of play.

Kingsville matched its first-quarter scoring total by posting 22 in the second frame as La Monte found the scoreboard for six points in the second.

Kingsville added to its 44-6 halftime lead by scoring a 20-6 advantage in the third quarter.

The two teams played to a 9-9 tie in the fourth quarter to put the final score at 73-21.

Nine Tiger players found the scoring column in the game with John Fleeman putting up 21 points, Christian Stevenson scoring 14, Gavin Mullins totaling 10, Jack Ewing dropping in 9, Chase Stout adding 8, Hank Alvidrez scoring 4, Brody Polen producing 3 points, and Cole Smith and Logan Sisson each totaling 2 points.

Following its championship performance at the Battle of the Hardwood, the Kingsville boys basketball team held a record of 13-3 on the season.
