Dana Kristine (Culbertson) Tapu

Dana Kristine (Culbertson) Tapu, 62 of Holden, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Holden Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center in Holden, Missouri.

She was born Tuesday January 1, 1963, in Independence, Missouri, to the late Ronald Roy Culbertson and the late Carol Ann Cox.

Dana grew up in the Independence and Blue Springs area and was a graduate of Blue Springs High School. Dana had two sons, Darren and Derrek Culbertson. She married Haveloka Tapu on September 16, 1989.

She first worked in the food industry for Shoney’s Restaurant and then later for her brothers at R & D Construction in the office.

Dana was a caring and loving soul. She cared for her grandparents, driving four days a week from Independence to Holden. She eventually moved to Holden to care for her parents as well.

Dana had an infectious personality, bringing sunshine into any room she entered. She was a very diligent worker and had a strong work ethic. Dana will be missed, but the memories of her bright personality will live on in the hearts of all her friends and family.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Culbertson and Carol Cox and her brother, Donald Culbertson.
Surviving are two sons, Darren and Derrek Culbertson; one brother, Randy Culbertson; and an aunt, Linda Shadden; four grandchildren and two nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Holden Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center 2005 S. Lexington St. Holden, Missouri. All are welcome to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Johnson County Cancer Foundation P.O. Box 169, Warrensburg, MO 64093.
