John Taylor Rhoades

John Taylor Rhoades, 82, of Holden, MO, passed away March 16, 2024 at home.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Loraine Marie (Hampton) Rhoades; a sister, Joyce Shumate of Holden; a brother, Gary Rhoades of Leeton; four children: John Rhoades, Jr. and wife, Susan of Independence; Jeanie Johnson of Tennessee; David Rhoades of Lenexa, Kansas; Jeffrey Rhoades and wife Laura of Higginsville; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Franklin Rhoades, and his mother Hallie (Bradshaw) Rhoades.

He started out in manufacturing, working for Allis Chalmers Manufacturing CO; and later worked in construction for Andes and Roberts Construction CO.

After a period of time he formed his own construction company, which was Rhoades Construction.

John was an elder in the Knob Noster Restoration branch of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was very active in the church he loved so much until his death.

Graveside services were held at the Fairview Cemetery in Holden on March 23, 2024, under the direction of Royer Funeral Home of Oak Grove, and officiated by Elder Michael Brown, Presiding Elder of the Knob Noster Restoration Branch, and assisted by Elder Karl Anderson, also of the Knob Noster Restoration Branch.
