On Sunday, Feb. 25, the Holden High School cheer squad competed at the Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association (MCCA) 2A State Game Day cheer competition at Drury University in Springfield, MO.

At the competition, the team competed in three categories: timeout cheer, band chant, and fight song.

The team scored fifth in timeout cheer, fifth in band chant, and first in fight song against 15 other teams.

In order to be in the overall championship, teams must place in the top-five in two out of three categories. Since the team placed in the top-five in all three categories, they qualified for the championship placing fourth overall in the state of Missouri.

“This is the first time that Holden High School Cheer has competed in the MCCA 2A State Game Day competition and they killed it!” said Holden cheerleading head coach Jenica Andes. “Every practice, the girls came in ready to put in the work. We left Holden feeling nothing but pure confidence and determination to compete. I could not be more proud of this team. They have been a pleasure to work with, and I feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to coach them this season. We are extremely satisfied with where we placed and we cannot wait to see what the future holds moving forward.”
