Anita Louise Gallagher

Anita Louise Gallagher was born on October 12, 1947, in Takoma Park, Maryland, a daughter of William and Fern (Marsden) Hisey. She was a 1966 graduate of Northeast High School in Lincoln, Nebraska.

On June 12, 1966, Anita married Kenneth Robert Gallagher in Lincoln, Nebraska, embracing the life and role of a military wife. Ken and Anita were first stationed in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and later relocated to Okinawa, Japan, where they welcomed their daughter, Dawn Michele, into the world.

Life’s adventures, both military and civilian, took Anita to many exciting destinations around the world. She and Ken traveled throughout the Caribbean islands, Europe, Tahiti, and the Galapagos Islands.

Among Anita’s most memorable experiences were visiting Hadrian’s Wall, dining at Bloody Mary’s on Bora Bora, sleeping in an English castle, walking the Ring of Kerry, and kissing the Blarney Stone. Talking with the blue-footed boobies in the Galapagos Islands completed her bucket list.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 8:18 a.m., Anita lost her hard-fought battle with vascular dementia at Warrensburg Manor in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Anita is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Kenneth Robert Gallagher of Holden, Missouri; and her daughter and son-in-law, Dawn Michele Babers and Oscar Babers of Lancaster, California.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, William and Fern Hisey.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Blue Ridge Cemetery, Gresham, Nebraska. Pallbearers were Oscar Babers Jr., Tim Gallagher, Loran White, and Oran White.
