Doris Una Enke

Doris Una Enke, 91, of Lee’s Summit Missouri passed away Wednesday, November 12 at 9:34 a.m. at her home in John Knox Village. She was born on January 5, 1934 to Alma A. Christenson and D. Margret (Pine) Christenson in Johnson County Missouri three miles north of Holden.

Doris grew up in Holden and was baptized into the RLDS church at age 10. She graduated high school in 1951.

Doris married her high school sweetheart Charles L. Enke on July 26, 1952 and they settled in Grandview Missouri to raise their family.

She started working at Avon in October 1960 and retired when they closed the doors on June 15, 1985. Doris then worked at King Louie International in Grandview until 1992, when she and Charlie retired to enjoy their time in the country. They built their home on 80 acres 3 miles north of Holden and moved in May 1, 1990 where she resided until April 2019 when she moved John Knox Village. Doris made many new friends, enjoyed playing cards and also became an avid reader.

Doris is survived by two sons, Dan Enke of Raymore MO and David Enke of Kansas City MO, one daughter, Delva Hughes and son-in-law Darrell of Trimble MO, one brother, Fred Christenson of Independence MO, one brother-in-law, Bill Allee and wife Pat of Harrisonville MO, 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Enke, son, Darrel Enke, an infant baby girl, brother, James Christenson, and great-grandchild, Trevor Dooley.
