Robert Paul Hirner, Jr.

Robert Paul Hirner Jr., 79, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024, at his home in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Bob, as he was known by, was born May 02, 1945, in Hannibal, Missouri to the late Robert P. Hirner and Clarine (Hicks) Hirner.

Bob graduated from Hannibal High School in Hannibal, Mo. and attended Hannibal-LaGrange College.

He served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1969-1970. After serving his country, he attended Central Missouri State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Arts & Technology and his Master’s degree in Industrial Management.

He married Ruth Ann (Moody) Hirner on September 08, 1973, in Kingsville, Mo. Together they raised three sons Robert, Kevin and Brian Hirner.

He worked in the printing department at Central Missouri State University for 31 years and retired as Printing Foreman in 2003.

Bob spent many hours hunting and fishing with his parents and brother. Later his sons joined him in sporting activities and at “camp” on the Mississippi river. The family loved to travel and visited all 50 states and Canada.

Bob liked to build and refinish furniture. He also, was a collector of St. Louis Cardinals memorabilia, coins, stamps and antique tools.

While he admitted he was not the life of the party, he was always helping people with various needs.
Bob was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran church in Hannibal, Missouri.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Clarine, brother, Timothy Hirner, and his in-laws.

Surviving his passing are his wife; Ruth Ann Hirner of the home in Warrensburg, MO, sons, Robert P. Hirner III and wife Colleen of St. Louis, MO, Kevin Hirner of Warrensburg, MO, and Brian Hirner and partner Blair of Grain Valley, MO, grandsons; Lucas, James, Colton and Dylan; granddaughter Eva Marie, four step-granddaughters; Lilian, Juliana, Mariah and Lyla, sister in-law; Sharon Hirner, nephew; David Hirner, brother in-law; John Moody.

The pallbearers are Bobby, Kevin, Brian and David Hirner. Honorary Pallbearers are Ray Hoppe, Jeanene Hoppe and Sharon Hirner. Graveside services were held Monday, September 30, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery 257 SW MO-131 in Holden, MO., with military honors by American Legion Post 131.

The family will hold a memorial service on Sunday, October 6, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Community of Christ Church 700 S. Mitchell St. Warrensburg, MO.
