Vicki LaDawn Howerton

Vicki LaDawn Howerton, 65 of Holden, Missouri died on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri. She was born on Monday, November 3, 1958, in Warrensburg, Missouri to the late Harold Howerton and Dorothy Vick Graham. Vicki was a graduate of Holden High School.
After high school she attended University Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO for two years before moving to Overland Park, KS where she began working at American Teleconferencing of OP KS. She had as a client the organization that provided communications for the NCAA March Madness Basketball tournament.
This became an exciting career path for Vicki, and ultimately led her to pursue her work in the industry at IBM, and later GE Telecommunications divisions in New York City. She held the title of Sales Account Executive, serving many well-known businesses like Sony, and Xerox. She also did professional modeling while living in NYC.
While living in the east Vicki enjoyed cycling and loved visiting art and history museums. She loved her work and the ability to work in the big city. Vicki observed and documented the events of 9/11 from her high-rise apartment across the river from the towers. Vicki wrote a series of articles for the then, Holden Progress, depicting that tragedy with her firsthand experience.
After her career in NYC, she returned to Holden to live with and care for her aging mother, Dorothy. Vicki enjoyed long walks, yard work, and keeping house for her mother. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and loved music. Vicki also enjoyed movies and keeping up with Hollywood.
She was a member of the Holden Community of Christ Church and a past member of the Elks Lodge of New Jersey.
Vicki will be missed by all who knew her loving personality.
Surviving is her daughter Sophie Dufresne of Canada; sister Debra A. Mannino of Holden and her fiancé, Robert Davidson of Holden. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Matthew Mannino, Gina (Cory) Mitchell and Angie (Lance) Smith all of the Atlanta, GA area, and lots of cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Howerton.
Services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Holden Community of Christ Church in Holden, Missouri. Visitation is at 1:00 p.m. with the Memorial Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m.
