Lady Eagle track and field athletes Kia Harmon, Addy Campbell, Addilyn Wooster, and Brionna Johnson each turned in top-four finishes at the Class 3, Sectional 4 Meet held at Holden High School Saturday, May 11 to earn qualifications for the Class 3 MSHSAA Track and Field Championships.

Harmon scored a sectional title by placing first in the high jump as Campbell improved upon her Holden school record in the 400m dash in a runner-up finish. Wooster is set to close out her sophomore season in a return trip to the state meet after notching a sectional runner-up finish in pole vault, and Johnson looks to leave her mark in shot put in Jefferson City after placing third in the event at sectionals. In total, Holden will send four Lady Eagles and five Eagles to the state meet.

The Lady Eagles team placed fourth among 25 teams with athletes competing at the Sectional 4 Meet.

“Today was such a great day for Holden track and field,” said Holden track and field coach David Diener. “For us to be able to qualify nine individuals is outstanding. Along with todays successes we had lots of fifth-place finishes. For those athletes to put in the effort and work to fall just short is hard to swallow, but I couldn’t be more proud of how our program has grown this year and how competitive we have become across all areas of the track and field events. I am looking forward to seeing how our athletes perform at state and the progress these athletes will make for next year.”

Harmon will compete in a total of two events with qualifying sectional finishes in both high jump and in long jump. Harmon’s sectional title in high jump was secured with a height of 1.66m. She placed fourth in long jump at the sectional meet with a mark of 4.89m, and returns to the state meet for the third consecutive season as a previous three-time all-state medalist. Last year, Harmon placed fifth in high jump and seventh in long jump. She placed eighth in high jump as a freshman to start her all-state medal collection of three total to this point.

In addition to her top-four all-sectional finishes, Harmon placed fifth in triple jump with a distance of 10.27m.

“Kia’s set to have another good year at state,” said coach Diener. “I think she is starting to peak at high jump at the right time and is ready to put anther good long jump competition together.”

Campbell timed out in a new Holden school record time of 59.42 seconds to place second in the 400m dash at the sectional meet. She returns to the state meet after last year running as a member of both of Holden’s seventh-place all-state 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams, and placing ninth in the 400m dash with top-eight finishers earning all-state medals.

“Addy had some unfinished business from last year’s state meet, so for her to get the school record again at sectionals after the injuries she had
