Virginia Fair Riley

Virginia Fair Riley passed away peacefully at her home on December 21, 2023
in Holden, Missouri where she joined her childhood sweetheart on their next adventure.
Virginia was born on October 17, 1940 in Chaonia, Missouri, daughter of Winzel and Lela Fair.
She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1958. She was joined in marriage to Charles & Buck &
Riley. They moved to Flat River, Missouri where she attended Mineral Area College. She
completed her degree at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri
where she graduated cum laude. She taught in several schools with the last one being Holden
Elementary School. She taught kindergarten there for twenty-five years where she had over
700 students.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Buck, her parents, a sister, a brother,
and several other family members. Virginia is survived by two sons: Curt Riley and wife, Sheryl,
of Columbia, Missouri, and David Riley and wife, Debbie, of Holden, Missouri, and her brother,
Larry Fair and wife, Martha, of Cameron Park, California. She is also survived by four
grandchildren: Darci (Jason) Winters, Dani Jo (Branan) Allen, Dylan Riley, and Cory (Madeline)
Riley. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson: Dyllin,
Jayci, Mar ShaunTa, James, Maliki, Skyla, Cora, Brayden, Mairin, and Xavier.

Virginia was an avid reader and loved visiting any library she could get to. The special
one in her heart though was the Holden Library. She would go down there for hours and read,
talk, or just enjoy being there. So in her honor, memorial contributions can be made to the
Trails Regional Library (Holden Branch, in memo), so her love of reading will live on forever.

Virginia's services will be January 6th,2024 at Williams Funeral Home in Holden,
Missouri. The visitation will be at 12:00 with the funeral immediately following.
