Richard Lawrence Casto
Richard Lawrence Casto, 51, formerly of Holden, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday October 4, 2023, at St. Luke’s East in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
He was born June 9, 1972, at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri to Joseph and Mona (Brinkley) Casto.
Richard attended and graduated from Holden High School, class of 1990. He played football and was an active member of the FFA. He attended college in Maine and became Operating Engineer for HVAC systems. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on his dad’s property. He enjoyed traveling and was looking forward to doing a lot more of it.
He met and fell in love with Wilma Thayer, and the couple made their home in Grain Valley. Wilma brought one son into the relationship and Richard treated him as his own. Richard had a fierce and loud personality and was a loyal partner, father, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death are his father Joseph and brother Wayne.
Surviving his passing were: long-time partner Wilma Thayer, of the home; son, Ralf Garcia; nieces, Hannah Wenzel, Kaitlin Casto, and Kirsten Casto; nephews, Jonathon and Joseph Casto.
The family will honor Richard with a Memorial Service on October 18, 2023, at 11:00 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church, 541 NW 131, Holden, MO 64040, with Pastor Travis Webb, officiating.
