Grace Edna Perkins

Grace Edna Perkins 81, of Holden, Missouri passed away at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on Friday, June 23, 2023.

She was born July 3, 1941, in Carroll, Iowa to the late Max Otto Paul Pahnke and the late Anna Marie (Janssen) Pahnke.
Grace graduated from New Franklin High School in New Franklin, Missouri in 1959 and married James Perkins in July of that year. The couple, who met in church, spent the next 63 wonderful years together. They welcomed 4 children to this union and moved to Holden in 1973 to raise their family.

Grace was a stay-at-home mom until the kids got out of school and then took a job at Holden Elementary as a cook for 14 years. Grace and James were avid square dancers and loved being a part of the Holden On’s square dance club. They danced for many years and made many lifelong friends along the way.

She was a member of the First Baptist church in Holden for many years and most recently attended New Life Fellowship where her and James are charter members.

Grace was a kind and loving woman who will be greatly missed.

Proceeding her in death are her parents; daughter Alice Perkins Kilgore; brothers Walter, Frederich, Henry, Paul, Herman, Albert, and Carl; sisters Louise, Frieda, Liena, Elsie, Minnie, Lillian, and Alba.

Surviving her passing are her husband, James of the home; sons Dale (Dee) Perkins of Holden, MO, Brian Perkins of Olathe, KS, and Scott (Jana) Perkins of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren Arica (Nathan) Kilgore, Leslie (Caleb) Perkins, Malcolm (Lauralei) Perkins, and Faye LaVassor; great grandchildren Abbigail, Isaac, Emmalie, Mason, Evan, Cayle, Lucas, Autumn, and Austin; and many more family, friends, and loved ones.

There will be a Visitation on Monday July 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m at the New Life Fellowship Church in Holden, MO, with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. also at the church.
