ROBERT (BOB) GENE WOLFE August 29, 1937 – June 2, 2023

Robert (Bob) Gene Wolfe, 85, of Holden, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023, at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in Hiawatha, Kansas on August 29, 1937, to Clifford and Rhea (Moon) Wolfe.

Bob was united in marriage to the love of his life, Shirley Mae Price, on June 12, 1957. Together, they had three daughters, Debbie, Vicki and Connie.

Bob and Shirley began their married life living in Kansas City and Raytown, before moving to Holden in 1970.
Bob enjoyed many different hobbies, including – coaching daughter Connie’s softball team; playing on the men’s slow-pitch team, the Hazbins; and square dancing with the Holden Ons.

He also loved fishing, hunting, cooking, motorcycle riding, gardening, playing the guitar; and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

Bob worked as a custodian at the Holden School District, until his retirement in 1999.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Debbie Powell and husband Jim, of Blairstown, Vicki Watterson and husband Mike, and Connie Valdez and husband Sergio, all of Holden; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Doris Christenson and Barb Larson (Jim); one brother, Steven Wolfe; special friend, Louise Darby; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; three brothers, David Wolfe, Edward Wolfe and Dale Wolfe; and one sister, Phyllis Stevenson.

Bob lived a very fulfilling, happy life, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Our beloved dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend touched so many lives with his kindness and ever-present friendly smile, and his memory will live on in us forever.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Holden, immediately preceding the funeral.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, with dear friend Skip Eldridge officiating.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Chris Corwin, Tim Corwin, Travis Powell, Jared Watterson, Ben Watterson and Johnny Watterson.

Honorary pallbearers are Sean Gianotti, John Middleton, Lloyd Ethridge and Bob’s great-grandchildren.

Bob will be laid to rest at the Holden Cemetery, immediately following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Golden Valley Memorial Hospice in Clinton, who helped take care of Bob in his final days.

His family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the Hospice staff who took such excellent care of him.

Arrangements are under the direction of Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden.
