Joe Allen Sechrest
Joe Allen Sechrest 78, of Kingsville, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday May 25, 2023.
Joe was born December 16, 1944 to Jennings and Marie (Riddle) Sechrest in Kingsville.
He graduated from Kingsville High School and soon after was drafted into the United States Army. He served as an MP during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he joined the workforce as a Tool and Dye maker for Stahls and then Honeywell until his retirement.
Joe married Sandra (Dollard) and along with her two girls, Julie and Kim, they soon welcomed Robin and then James to complete the family. They made their home in rural Holden, Missouri. Joe re-enlisted in the Air Force Reserves in 1986 and was deployed in 1991 to help in Desert Storm.
Joe loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He was adventurous and loved to travel. He loved telling stories and jokes. He had enough jokes to keep the crowd entertained for hours. Very seldom did he miss the opportunity to laugh and have fun. The stories he would tell had everyone in tears from laughter. Joe will be greatly missed.
He was special to so many and loved by all. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and amazing bonus dad.
Surviving his passing, daughter Robin (Kelly) Stevenson of Kingsville, MO; son James (Regina Smith) Sechrest of Kingsville, MO; stepdaughters Julie (Wayne) Brown of Independence, MO, and Kim (Mike) Gerdes of Weatherford, TX; brother Clarence (Carol) Sechrest of Pleasant Hill, MO; sisters Lillian (Darrell) Taylor of Kingsville, MO, and Goldie (Joseph) Mann of Kingsville, MO. seven grandkids and 10 great-grand kids.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Jennings and Marie; brothers Earl and James Sechrest; and sister LeeAnna Belle Ferris.
The family received friends Tuesday May 30, 2023 at Campbell-Cast Funeral Home in Holden, MO. A funeral service followed at the funeral home with Pastor Preston Sanders officiating.
Full Military Honors were held graveside at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Kingsville, MO following the funeral service.
Pallbearers included Justin Correll, Mike Sechrest, David Sechrest, Joseph Stevenson, James Bigby and Christopher Ralston. Honorary pallbearers were Christian, Mason and Maverick Stevenson.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Crossroads Hospice.
