Pat Williams-Borer

Pat Williams-Borer, 91, passed away on May 8, 2023 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Pat was born Patsy Jeanne on April 12, 1932 in Holden, Missouri to Wallace and Gertrude (Briscoe) Fitzgerel.

Pat attended Round Grove School and Holden High School and graduated in 1950.

She married Ray Williams of Sweet Springs in 1951. The couple had two children, Jeanne and Scott, and made their home on the family farm outside of Holden.

Pat worked various jobs early in her life, but mostly enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her children.

She taught Sunday School classes, cared for family members, and enjoyed the rural life, with a few memorable trips with family and friends.

Ray passed unexpectedly in 1971, and Pat found herself a single mother for quite some time. She became the “rock of the family,” supporting her family by waitressing at the Blackwater Café.

She met Walter Borer and married in 1989 and made her home on his farm in rural Pleasant Hill for the next 31 years.
Pat was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Holden and supported several charities that were dear to her. She loved dogs of all kinds and her spring flowers.

Pat was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and aunt, who deeply loved her family and will be missed.

Pat is survived by her children: Jeanne (Matt) Long of Holden, Scott (Ruthann) Williams of Holden, Darryl Borer of rural Pleasant Hill, Dennis (Vickie) Borer of Independence, Nancy (Jesse) Golliher of Peculiar, brother W.B. Fitzgerel of Holden, sister Wanda Brown of Holden, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and three nieces/nephew.

Preceding Pat in death were her parents, husband Ray Williams, and husband Walt Borer.

The family received friends Friday morning, May 12, 2023, at the First Christian Church in Holden, 301 Main Street, with a service following, officiated by Pastor Tim Whitmore.

Pat was laid to rest at the Holden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the First Christian Church of Holden.
