Frances (Frankie) Lorene Hancock

Frances (Frankie) Lorene Hancock, 98, of Holden, Missouri passed away peacefully, surrounded by family May 10, 2023 at Holden Manor Care Center.

She was born September 12, 1924 to Clifford and Bessie Davis in Holden, Missouri.

Frankie attended Pleasant View School, Medford, and was Salutatorian of her graduating class of 1941 Holden High School.
She married Donald Curtis Hancock and they were the parents of seven children.

Frankie and Don were world travelers and made many trips to England, Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico and many other places.
Frankie was a nurse in Holden for 40 years working for Dr. Rawlins, Dr. Holmberg, and Dr. Wescott. After she left nursing she was the proofreader for the Holden Image for 17 years.

She was of the Christian faith and attended the Medford Methodist Church all of her life.

In 1990 Frankie was honored as Woman of the Year by the local sorority Preceptor Zeto Omega. In 2000 she and Dr. Wescott were honored by the Holden Chamber of Commerce and Holden Image for their years of service to the community. In 2015 she won Outstanding Older Worker of Missouri for Region 6. She was given a reception hosted by the Holden Image and honored by the State of Missouri, Johnson County Commissioners, and the City of Holden. In 2017 she was the Grand Marshal of the Holden Street Fair.

For many years the day after the fair ended, she would be in downtown Holden at daybreak cleaning up trash left behind by the fair attendees.

Surviving Frankie’s passing is her daughter, Judith Karen Mallory of Harrisonville, Missouri; sons, David Lee Hancock of Camdenton, Missouri, Dennis Ray Hancock of Blairstown, Missouri, Charles Lynn Hancock of Holden, Missouri, Jonathan Robert Hancock and wife Cheryl of Nixa, Missouri, and William Carl Hancock and wife Mollye of Osage Beach, Missouri; 15 grandchildren, 47 great- grandchildren, and 21 great- great-grandchildren.

Preceding Frankie in death were her parents, son James Donald Hancock, sisters Nellie Parrot, Elizabeth Wainwright, Mary Strate, Genevieve Famuliner, and Betty Pruden.

At Frankie’s request no services will be held, but the family will announce a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Schoolhouse and mailed to Pleasant View Community Club, 761 SW Hwy 131, Holden, Missouri 64040.
