Kenneth Eugene Edwards
Kenneth Eugene Edwards 58 of Chilhowee, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning April 18, 2023, at KU Medical Center.
Gene or “Goob” as everyone called him, was born January 29, 1965, in Kansas City, Missouri to Edwin and Margaret (Hoover) Edwards.
Gene went to Holden High School and graduated in 1983. He was united in marriage to his forever love, Nancy Swopes, and they made their home in rural Chilhowee.
He worked for Johnson County Road and Bridges as a county road maintainer until his retirement.
Gene loved tinkering and working on old cars. He had an incredible work ethic and was always doing something. He had a passion for pulling garden tractors and was an active member of the Hillbilly Hook and Pull Club.
Gene never met a stranger and couldn’t go anywhere without knowing everyone there. He loved his beer and side by side and driving around in the country.
Gene was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend. His 6’3” good looking self will be missed dearly, but he will be remembered forever.
Surviving Gene’s passing are his loving wife, Nancy, of the home; mother, Margaret of Warrensburg; daughter Della Beaudin and partner Wesley Booker of Lowry City; brothers, Gary Edwards of Lee’s Summit, Chris Edwards and wife Amy of Lone Jack; sister, Pam Packham of Holden; grandchildren, Aren Edwards, Dyllin Winters and Leddie Beaudin.
Preceding Gene in death were his father Edwin and brother, Eddie Andrew Edwards.
A visitation was held Saturday April 22, 2023, at Campbell-Cast Funeral Home in Holden, Missouri with a Funeral Service following, also at the Funeral Home.
Interment was at the Carpenters Cemetery in Chilhowee, Missouri. Pastor Michael Wakeman officiated.
Pallbearers included: Dusty Rogers, Wesley Booker, Jeremy Packham, Dennis Taylor, Rob Bruns and Destry Hough. Chris Edwards was an Honorary Pallbearer.
