Lowell G. Rector
Lowell G. Rector passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City the day before his 85th birthday.
Lowell was born August 7, 1937, in Holden, MO, the son of Herbert R. and Helen F. (Hughes) Rector, and graduated from Holden High School Class of 1955.
A farmer at heart, he worked the land with his dad, beginning with dairy farming and continuing with crops and cattle.
After his dad’s passing, Lowell carried on his family’s farming legacy in Holden for a fourth generation.
Never one to shy away from a hard day’s work on the farm, Lowell was happiest when he was out on his tractor or bulldozer.
Lowell faithfully attended Bear Creek Baptist Church throughout his life, where he served as a Deacon.
While he loved his home, he was also fond of travel.
Some of his best memories were at family get-togethers and spending time with his many cousins, both in Missouri and in Montana.
He is survived by two daughters: Towanda Lawler (Warren) of Warrensburg and Kathy Jennings of Holden; sister: Loyce Vance (Bill) of Delavan, WI; four grandchildren: Dustin Jennings of Blue Springs, MO; A.J. Gelbach (Sasha) of Abu Dhabi, UAE; Brittany Gelbach (Jimmy Mack) of Lee’s Summit, MO; and Ashley Langsdale (Nick) of Lee’s Summit, MO; and four great grandchildren: Oliver Gelbach, Lara Gelbach, Blakely Langsdale, and Emerson Langsdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gene Allen Rector.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden followed by graveside services at 12 p.m. at Wall Cemetery, located southeast of Holden, with the Rev. Denny Chestnut officiating.
