Derek Wade Scott

Derek Wade Scott, 26, of Strasburg, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 11, 2022, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

He was born on July 1, 1995, at Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.

Derek was raised and cared for by his loving grandparents, Nancy and Luther Scott of Blairstown, Missouri.

He graduated from Sherwood High School and soon after started his Lineman Apprenticeship with JF Electric in which he was a proud member of the IBEW Local 53 Union.

In July 2021, he married his beautiful wife, Cheyanne Ferguson.

Derek loved the outdoors and deer hunting was especially important to him.

He loved going to the lake and hanging out with his friends and cousins, who were all more like brothers and sisters to him.

He never sat still and was always on the move, never staying home for too long.

His love for speed recently got him started racing pure stock cars at Central MO Speedway in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Derek was a fun and fearless young man.

In his spare time, he helped his uncle Ron farm.

He was extremely close to his family and friends and will be sorely missed.

Preceding him in death are his grandfather, Luther Scott; and uncle, Michael Scott.

Derek is survived by his wife, Cheyanne Scott of the home; grandmother, Nancy Scott of Blairstown; mother, Pam Duncan of Holden, MO; brother, Cory Duncan of Maryville, MO; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Doody, Justin Howerton, Colten Scott, Clayton Howerton, Randy Scott, Terry Scott, and Little Jimmy Scott.

Honorary Pallbearers include Cory Duncan, Jimmy Scott, Chad Foley, Ron Williams, David Thompson, David Shatz and Sean Lewis.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 6-8 pm at Campbell-Cast Funeral Home in Holden, Missouri.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 10 am at the funeral home with Pastor, Mike Wakeman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Scott Memorial Cemetery in Blairstown, Missouri.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family of Derek Scott.
