MICHAEL FLOYD THURMAN

Michael Floyd Thurman, 77, of Kingsville, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022, at his home.

Mike was born February 10, 1945 in Holden, MO, to Floyd Thurman and Zelma (Becker) Thurman.

He was raised in Kingsville and graduated from Kingsville High School.

Mike was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Akins on August 19, 1966.

The couple resided in Pleasant Hill for a brief time prior to moving to Kingsville in 1967.

Mike enlisted in the Army National Guard in February of 1967.

He served six years as a wireman stationed at Fort Leonard Wood and Camp Ripley in Minnesota.

He also worked as a painter and for Stahl Specialty Company during that time.

Following enlistment, he went to work for Armco Steel in Kansas City, where he retired in 1992.

After retirement, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 14 years.

Mike loved hunting, fishing, and tending to the many dogs along his mail route who loved daily treats, as well as the many people he encountered along his route.

He also enjoyed spending time with his family, helping to raise his granddaughter, and the many children that came to the home throughout the years.

Pat preceded him in death on December 8, 2013.

He was also preceded in death by both parents; and one sister, Patricia McGill. Mike is survived by his son, Michael A. Thurman, of Kingsville, MO; daughter, Lori Thurman of Kingsville, MO; granddaughter, Danielle Myrick (Justin) of Pleasant Hill, MO; great-grandson, Graysen Myrick of Pleasant Hill, MO; sisters, Joyce McCloud of Oak Grove, MO; Pamela (Thurman) Merriott of Kingsville, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden, MO, with Pastor Jack Brown officiating.

Interment followed services at Duncan Cemetery, south of Kingsville, with Military Honors.

The family received friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Williams Funeral Chapel.
