Public Invited to Pleasant View Schoolhouse Open House
Local community betterment group, Hometown Project, would like to invite the public to an open house at Pleasant View Schoolhouse, to see completed refurbishments on the old building.
Established in 1915, the old one-room schoolhouse has served the community’s children well throughout many years.
The years and weather had taken their toll on the old building and it was in desperate need of some attention.
In 2018, the Hometown Project group noticed the shape it was in and volunteered their time to paint the local neighborhood landmark.
Hometown Project had 15 volunteers working daily on the project, scraping peeling paint, applying a fresh coat of paint, and repairing structural damage.
Neighboring residents in the Medford community furnished the paint and caulking, and Hometown Project members brought paint brushes and ladders and provided the labor for the project.
The open house will be held on Friday, May 27, beginning at 10 a.m.
Pleasant View Schoolhouse is located on N. 131 Highway, just north of Medford.
The public is invited to come and see what updates have been made, enjoy some refreshments, and view some of the original items inside the school.
Donations will be accepted by Hometown Project and Pleasant View Community Club for future improvements, upkeep and maintenance on the schoolhouse.
