City Audit, Department & Committee Reports, Resolutions, Ordinances Highlight Council Meeting

Audit Underway
Opening the July 16 meeting was a Missouri State Auditor’s representative, who told the council an update on the current city audit is underway due to past employee misconduct.

The audit is being conducted at the request of the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office. There will be news releases published relating to the audit over the next few months.

Mayor’s Comments
Mayor Allen Mensch followed by stating the city participated with many communities across the nation to publicly read the Declaration of Independence at 5:00 p.m., July 8, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the first public reading.

Department Head Reports
The council then reviewed the department head reports in their packets.

• Police Chief Mayhew gave his report. Then the Fire Chief, Mike Wakeman, updating the council on new equipment and maintenance on the vehicles.

• Following, Travis Dempsey with the Street Department noted that the council has a list of work orders done in the last month, and gave a street department building update.
