MATTHEW JAMES COLLINS
Matthew James Collins, 47, of Holden, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, at his home.
Matthew was born September 5, 1974, in Parsons, Kansas, the son of James E. and Genalee G. (Jones) Collins.
He graduated from Prairie View High School in Lacygne, Kansas.
He was united in marriage to Melissa Sue Brandt on the 12th of November, 1994, in Harrison, Arkansas.
The couple resided briefly in Kansas City, Kansas, Kansas City, Missouri and Lee’s Summit, Missouri for nearly eight years.
They eventually moved north of Holden.
Since 2001, Matt worked as an area manager for Certified Transmission, until retiring following 20-plus years of service.
He was a huge baseball fan. In later years, he played in a softball league.
He previously was very involved in his kids’ school sporting activities, having coached for many years.
Matt also loved hunting with his son, Austin.
He was an animal lover, especially dogs, and he thoroughly enjoyed traveling.
Matt was known to put everyone else first.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa; two daughters, Misty Collins (Devon Hamline) of Warrensburg, MO and Allison Collins (Nicholas Tarman) of Kansas City, MO; son, Austin Collins (Shelby Tate) of Holden, MO; two brothers, Marion Collins (Sara) and Jason Collins (Kelli Culp), all of Lee’s Summit, MO; two grandchildren, Ava Hamline and Carter Hamline; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday, at the funeral chapel.
